Perfect Fitness has reached a settlement that includes $425,000 in penalties to the Consumer Product Safety Commission over claims hat the company failed to report a product defect. The agency claims Perfect Fitness knew of a defect in its Perfect Pullup product in June 2008, but did not report the defect until December 2010, a violation of federal law. In February, the company issued a recall of 7,000 units of the product.
People have a right to expect their workout equipment is safe, particularly when the company knows it is is unsafe and does nothing about it.
