Boost Your Metabolism

People keep asking me what they can do to lose more weight and why they are not losing weight. Frequently, what people need to do is increase their metabolism. Metabolism is the rate at which your body burns calories in order to sustain life. As we get older, our natural metabolic rate slows down. In order to lose weight, through both diet and exercise, you need to revve up your metabolic rate.

This can be done through diet by eating foods which are rich in protein and fiber, drinking lots of water, and eating every 4 to 5 hours. And never, never, never skip breakfast. I know it may seem counterintuitive, but you need to put food in your mouth for your body to start burning calories. At night, while resting, your metabolic rate slows down considering. It will rev up again once it has some healthy protein or fiber to digest. (see my previous blog on breakfast!) There are many healthy foods for increasing your metabolism. Once you get your diet geared toward those foods, you will see your metabolism change and you will lose those pounds!
