2008 will be great

Here we are, 2008. As always, for most people, the New Year is a time for self-examination and reflection. For me, I like to look backward and forward. What did I do well in 2007 that I would like to continue? What do I need to do better in 2008? What new goals do I have for 2008? Most people tend to make a list of these things, whether it's a mental list or actual notations. However, after the list is made it's often hard to execute the change.

Fitness and weight loss seem to top everyone's list, whether you are young, old, fat, thin, fit or a couch potato. Amidst our busy lives, it is difficult to find time for fitness no matter which of these categories you are in. I was reading Presidential Candidate Barack Obama's message, "change we can believe in." I believe this phrase applies to fitness as well. It is unwise to make lofty goals which, when really examined, are hard to achieve. For example, the New Year's Resolution to "workout everyday" just won't happen for most. We are all people with lives, spouses, children, jobs, lawns to mow and houses to clean. So when you are setting your fitness goals, I recommend examining your whole life and starting a plan that works on a global level for you (and that you actually believe you can achieve). Set a plan that you can stick to, figure out which days and specific times you are coming to Club One Fitness, then commit to what your goals are once you get here. It is always easier to have a plan rather than a general goal to "workout".

Club One Fitness is ready to roll into the New Year! We have several new group exercise classes and instructors to help mix things up for 2008. And, as always, our personal trainers are here and ready to help you with your fitness plan.

Happy New Year and don't forget I'm here every day and will help you in any way I can to make 2008 great!
